About Cedar

Cedar is an independent home fragrance and aromatherapy brand that has been bringing peace and tranquillity to homes since 2018.

From our Manchester studio we offer a range of hand-poured essential oils candles, exclusive essential oils blends for baths and diffusers, and we supply ceramic air diffuser mood lamps. We also run candle making workshops and provide wholesale and candle making services for partner brands.

 

Our Story

Cedar started out as something of a sanity project. A way for founder and maker Lizzy Bell to relieve some of the pressures of her first year as a secondary school geography teacher. Lizzy had always found candles therapeutic and meditative. From the ritual of lighting to the comforting glow, to the range of scents and their myriad aromatherapy benefits, they represent true moments of calm. After Lizzy realised how much she enjoyed the making side of things, she decided to try and bring moments of calm to others through Cedar.

Since then the business has gone from strength to strength. Cedar has its own studio space, an evolving range of handmade products and a loyal social media following. It’s become a regular fixture on Manchester’s flourishing independent market scene, and Cedar candles are now stocked up and down the country, featuring everywhere from local homeware and lifestyle stores to Selfridges. Cedar products have also been featured in leading magazines such as Elle Decor and Vogue

Our Ethos

At Cedar we try to help people establish rituals in life. Promote their wellbeing by encouraging them to make time for themselves. Slow down, reset the balance. Find a moment of peace and tranquillity.

That’s why we only use 100% natural essential oil blends. Our products aren’t just fragrant, they’re therapeutic. Each blend is aromatherapy benefits, plus with essential oils we can be more exclusive. When you own a Cedar candle, you’re have a candle you can’t get anywhere else.

Sustainability has always been at the core of what I do here at Cedar. I am always trying to educate myself on how to create a more sustainable product and try to source the most eco friendly ingredients. But it doesn't stop there, I promise to always back environmental and social charities which are close to my heart. To date, Cedar has raised thousands of pounds for charities such as Tree App, Mosaik Education, Barefoot College and Lifeshare. 

Currently I have partnered  with CoppaFeel!, a breast cancer awareness charity based in London. CoppaFeel! promote the early detection of breast cancer, encouraging men and women of all ages to regularly check their breasts. This is an issue that is quite literally close to my heart following my own breast cancer diagnosis in June 2022. 

Our Products

Every Cedar candle is made with an essential oils blend, designed and handmade by Cedar. 100% natural. Hand-poured, wicked and labelled here in the UK. As a brand Cedar is all about simplicity and elegance, and this is reflected in the design and quality of the glassware and packaging. Cedar also uses European-grown rapeseed wax blend as a more sustainable alternative to soy or paraffin wax.
